David Jason Muir is an American journalist and the anchor of ABC World News Tonight and co-anchor of the ABC News magazine 20/20, part of the news department of the ABC broadcast-television network, based in New York City.

Born in Syracuse, New York on 8th November, 1973 David Muir grew up on Onondaga Hill, a village located Southwest of Syracuse. He has one older sibling that resides in New York States. Graduated from Onondaga Junior- Senior High School in 1991, he attended Park School of Broadcasting at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York in 1995 and achieved Bachelor of Art degree in journalism. During his college days, he also attended the Institute on Political Journalism at the Fund for American Studies at Georgetown University and studied in Spain at the University of Salamanca. He has kept his engaged life quite a secret and, as a result various rumors keep on arising about his engagement.
Even several rumors arise about his engagement during his coverage of Hurricane Katrina, when a gay follower of Muir wrote that he was his boyfriend. Coming on his career Muir worked as an anchor and lead reporter for WTVH television from 1995-2000 in Syracuse where he covered reports from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
