A Tribute to The Legend R.D. Burman at Lord of The Drinks was a musical evening that transported the audience back to the golden era of Bollywood music. The event featured The House of the Urban Monkz, a group of multiple artistes, and was a heartfelt homage to the legendary composer R.D. Burman, whose timeless and groovy numbers continue to captivate music lovers across generations.
A packed Lord of The Drinks at South City Mall, with its vibrant ambience, provided the perfect setting for R.D. Burman’s timeless Bollywood and Bengali songs like Ek ladki ko dekha, Tumi koto je dure, Do lafzon and many more, making the night an unforgettable experience for all who attended.

The lineup featured The House of the Urban Monkz — Porshia, Somodeep, Saynntan and Soumya, assisted by Arnab on keyboards, Bubun on drums, percussionists Jay and Dipayan, and guitarists Pritam, Vishal and Bachospati. The artistes performed various groovy R.D. Burman songs like Bheegi bheegi raaton mein, Dum maaro dum, Chura liya hai, Chhera hai ya chaand and many more. “This is a night curated by the House of the Urban Monks and it is a pleasure to have wonderful musicians from the city collaborating. Would like to thank Lord of the Drinks for having us set up the entire night. It is going to be a very special night because this is the first time we are curating such an event. Obviously the melodies of R.D. Burman are always evergreen and we are looking forward to an evergreen night at LOD tonight,” said Somodeep of the Urban Monkz.
“It was pure magic — a nostalgic journey through R.D. Burman’s timeless melodies. The music took us back in time, filling the room with the essence of his genius,” said Laboni, who looked party-ready in a neon and black dress.
“My favourite R.D. Burman song is Bahon mein chale aao! I loved how each artiste performed his songs in such a wonderful way. It truly made me nostalgic,” said Neerajita Chaudhary.
“It was absolutely fabulous to be here and listen to a tribute to R.D. Burman. I grew up listening to him and all the guys in the band they’re all good friends of mine. I’ve been wanting to come and catch them performing Panchamda’s songs,” said Chiradeep Lahiri.
Being a singer herself, Adrija Shah looked elegant in a white sari paired with an embellished blouse. She said: “It’s amazing to be here at Lord of the Drinks tonight. Right now, Porshia is singing some of my favourite tracks of all time. And there are lots of songs by R.D. Burman sir which are my favourites. Chura liya hai tumne jo dilko is one of them.”
It’s impossible not to dance to R.D. Burman’s groovy hits!
“We were thrilled to have hosted such a memorable night dedicated to the legendary R.D. Burman. The energy, talent, and passion that The House of The Urban Monkz and all the artists brought to the stage was nothing short of magical. It was a night where Calcutta’s rich musical heritage shone brightly, and we are proud to have been a part of it. We look forward to continuing to celebrate music and culture with more such iconic events in the future,” said Amit Bajoria and Vanita Bajoria, directors of Lord of the Drinks, Calcutta.
